Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

You begin your day early in the morning, enjoying the amazing foothill scenery and watching the sun rise light up the spectacular 18 hole golf course. The crew looks to you for guidance with their assigned tasks that will help ensure that the golf course is in the greatest condition. You take pride in providing our members and guests with the best vacation and recreation experience possible.

Position Details:

• This is a 10 month seasonal position (February until the end of November)
• Full time, 44 hours per week.
• Weekend work is a requirement of this position.

You Will:

• Interview, hire, train, direct and supervise a staff of employees for the purpose of maintaining the properties. The Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent work together in preparing and implementing the annual maintenance programs
• Ensure that proper staff training is carried out regarding procedures, health and safety training and equipment operation
• Lead daily meetings with Turf Care staff; update employees on schedule variations, work progress, and setting goals
• Assist with the general organization and cleanliness of the maintenance shop areas.
• Assist with golf course maintenance as necessary. This is a hands-on role where you will be leading by example.
• Have a strong understanding of the golf course layout to ensure duties can be carried out safely and without disruption to players

You:

• Possess excellent organizational and communication skills
• Have experience with calibration and operation of a boom sprayer
• Have operational knowledge of all Turf Care equipment
• Are a holder of a Class 5 Drivers License
• Have a minimum of 3 years related experience
• Must have Golf Course experience
• Possess post-Secondary education in related areas (Turf Grass Management Diploma or in the process of obtaining it)
• Have your Alberta Pesticide Applicator License or are willing to obtain
• Must have a valid Canadian Work Permit.
