ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a student to join us for a 4 - 8 month temporary position starting in May 2025 to gain hands-on experience in project coordination with TransAlta Corporation at our head office in Calgary, AB.
As the Project Coordinator, you will support the program manager and focus area leads with stakeholder communication & engagement, milestone tracking & schedule adherence, process & tool development, process training and program sustainment. Students will learn the application of project management frameworks in a professional setting, contributing to strategic priority initiatives. You will be accountable for supporting and facilitating Asset Management led initiatives across Generation, primarily related to sustaining capital projects processes, tools and training. You will partner directly with Asset Management staff and collaborate cross-functionally with other teams including HR, IT, SCM, Communications, and Generation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Support Asset Management initiatives across Generation by assisting in project execution and coordination.
Contribute to the implementation of standardized project processes and tools to enhance efficiency and consistency.
Facilitate the change management process to ensure smooth adoption of Asset Management practices.
Assist in stakeholder engagement by following established engagement plans and maintaining clear communication.
Support stakeholder communication activities, including maintaining SharePoint sites, drafting articles, conducting pulse checks, and other engagement efforts.
Support training and knowledge transfer to enhance team capability.
Contribute to the sustainment of new Asset Management processes.
Assist in planning and coordinating program celebration activities.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to drive the successful adoption of Asset Management initiatives.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program such as Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field at an accredited post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies after the work term, OR registered in an accredited co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
Basic understanding of project management principles, including scheduling and stakeholder engagement.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Project, Teams, Word, and SharePoint, with the ability to quickly learn role-specific software.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects proactively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Nice to Haves
Prior experience or familiarity with SAP and/or Primavera is considered an asset.
