Due to exciting growth in student enrollment, JR Shaw School of Business is expanding its dynamic team and seeking dedicated professionals to join us in shaping the future of business education. We are looking for innovative, passionate educators and industry experts committed to fostering a supportive learning environment and equipping the next generation of business leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving business landscape. We are recruiting for multiple casual instructors looking to contribute to focus on instructional excellence, student success and advancement of the program. Reporting to the Program Chair the instructor is an academic position.

Course assignments will primarily be Spring & Fall semesters or Winter & Spring semester with opportunities in the following programs:

· Accounting

· Finance

Specific course assignment would be determined based upon successful candidates' experience. Possible course assignment could include: taxation, intermediate financial accounting, auditing, business math, statistics, and corporate finance.

The successful candidate will possess expert skill and knowledge in a particular field as well as currency of practice in a related field. NAIT provides exceptional support for those new to instruction, however, prior experience in teaching and learning may be an asset. Instructional excellence is essential to the achievement of NAIT's mission and the fulfillment of our Promises to Alberta, Industry, Students and Staff.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Instruct JR Shaw School of Business courses using case-based learning, problem-based learning and technology supported learning among other instructional and assessment strategies.
  • Give qualitative and quantitative feedback to students on assignments and exams.
  • Follow and enforce NAIT policies, procedures and Academic Regulations.
  • Inspiring students to lead businesses in their community.

  • Demonstrate a desire to contribute to NAIT and the JR Shaw School of Business.
  • Excellent instructional skills with a commitment to teaching undergraduate students through a variety of delivery modes.
  • Passion for teaching and dedication to student engagement and success.
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to scholarly activity, applied research and innovation.
  • Collaborative team player
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and various learning management tools.
  • Dedicated to life-long learning and NAIT's Values.

Qualifications:

  • Related Doctoral or master's degree with considerable related industry experience is required. A combination of academic credentials and discipline-specific professional certifications will also be considered.
  • Previous instruction and/or curriculum development experience may be an asset.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration: $99 per instructional hour. (Classification - Instructor A). Course hours vary between 45 and 60 hours.

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
