This position is responsible for the oversight of Medical Laboratory spaces and supervises a team of highly skilled Educational Technologists. The position works closely with their team of Educational Technologists, program Instructors, Instructional Assistants, program Chairs, and Manager to ensure effective lab delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of Educational Technologist IIIs.
Ordering and purchasing all laboratory supplies and compare inventory and order requests to help ensure labs are delivered in a cost-effective manner. Working with vendors to get best possible pricing and finding alternatives lab supplies as needed while following all NAIT's Financial and Purchasing policies and procedures. Working with Ed Tech team, Instructional team and Chairs to ensure lab costs are value added for student learning.
Troubleshoot and action any issues (technical and space related).
Ensure lab equipment, materials, and spaces are maintained to meet safety standards and take corrective action as needed.
Assist Chairs and Manager in creating lab schedules.
Work with industry partners to procure samples and donations.
Lead instrument and equipment procurement by conducting research, getting quotes, and liaising with department to ensure equipment that meets department needs and liaising with Purchasing and Finance department at NAIT
Ensuring business continuity is maintained in regard to student labs.
Prepare labs and lab materials (samples, equipment, supplies) while working collaboratively with instructional staff for the MLA, MLT and CLXT programs.

Knowledge of computers and use of Microsoft suite of programs.
Ability to stand and walk for 7.25 hours.
Ability to physically perform standard Medical Laboratory work.
Ability to work flexible hours and assignments.
A strong working knowledge in clinical setting, safety standards, and equipment operations and maintenance in the Medical Laboratory field.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized post-secondary institute.
A minimum 2-5 years of related experience is preferred.
Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Equivalencies may be considered.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $67,738.32 - $91,093.60 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Technologist IV).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement
