At SMS Equipment, our International Equipment Sales Representatives play a key role in driving equipment sales and building lasting relationships with clients worldwide. By leveraging deep market knowledge and understanding of customer needs, they ensure tailored solutions that foster long-term partnerships.

The International Equipment Sales Representative focuses on identifying, developing, and maintaining a strong customer base for both selling and acquiring machines, continuously expanding opportunities in global markets.

The base salary for this role is $48,000 plus commission.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Sales and Sourcing: Assist the internal sales branch team in selling machines from used and rental fleets, source machines for sales, rental and inventory purposes. Explore new business opportunities to grow sales internationally.

  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, demonstrate equipment as needed. Some travel to customer site may be required.

  • Logistics and Compliance: Manage the exchange, preparation, and documentation of sold machines, ensuring compliance with export processes and legal requirements.

  • Safety and Professionalism: Adhere to all safety policies and company standards, represent SMS Equipment with integrity, and perform duties responsibly.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, along with completion of an accredited program in heavy equipment, such as Sales Management Training. Candidates should have at least 4 years of experience in heavy equipment sales or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of various makes, models, and product support services.
  • Expertise in inventory management processes.
  • Strong understanding of safe work policies and practices.
  • Proficient in sales techniques, financial principles, credit, and accounting.
  • Effective at influencing, motivating, and developing new and existing customers.
  • Exceptional selling, negotiation, and closing skills to build lasting business relationships.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across departments and with customers.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to evaluate and address challenges.
  • Ability to perform quick and accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in teams.
