Your Opportunity:


Dive into a deeply rewarding role as a Temporary Program Supervisor working on site in our Edmonton programs! Are you driven by a desire to positively impact the lives of children and youth? This role contributes to ratio and works the floor in program. As a pivotal member reporting directly to the Senior Program Supervisor, you'll oversee our dedicated Child and Youth Care Workers (CYCWs), fostering a culture of compassion and respect. Your collaborative spirit will shine as you work closely with department teams, contributing to home care assessments and scheduling needs. Hours of Work and Rotation:

  • 8-10 month contract
  • Full-time hours
  • Six days on, three days off
  • Flexibility to be on-call is essential


Who You Are:


As a seasoned professional in home care, disability services, and complex behavioral care, you bring a wealth of experience in trauma-informed practices and continuous quality improvement models to the team. Thriving in fast paced environments, you effortlessly build and nurture cooperative relationships, while your innate ability to maintain composure under pressure sets you apart. As a proactive team player, your approach is guided by logic and reason, ensuring effective communication and problem-solving. Your deep understanding of mental wellness best practices is evidenced by the impactful home care you deliver, driven by your exceptional empathy and active listening skills. With a keen eye for problem-solving, you adeptly identify root causes and implement effective solutions, acting as an invaluable asset to any team.


Your Day to Day:


  • Work on site in program, contributing to ratio
  • Ensure frontline staff deliver support in a caring and respectful manner
  • Provide one on one coaching to CYCWs and manage performance and attendance
  • Train and develop your frontline teams
  • Monitor productivity and organization of your team's workflows
  • Complete critical incident reports
  • Work closely with other departments such as People and Culture, Finance, etc.
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders including Children's Services, FSCD, PDD, etc.
  • Provide on-call support to programs and clients as needed

What You Bring:


  • Minimum 5 years proven experience supervising / managing front-line care staff
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with Children's Services and Family Support for Children with Disability (FSCD)
  • Minimum 3 years proven experience providing direct care to youth with complex behavioural and mental health needs
  • Completion of a Degree in Child and Youth Care or Social Work preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of child and youth care mental wellness, TCI, and home care best practices
  • Excellent execution of clerical procedures for maintaining records and completing forms
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Strong oral / written communication skills
  • Strong technology / computer skills
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License, current Alberta 10-year Drivers Abstract, a reliable vehicle, and auto insurance with $2-million liability coverage
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR Level C + AED (two day in person training completed)
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check obtained within the last 6 months
  • Intervention Record Check obtained from Children Services within the last 6 months
  • Suicide prevention training and/or Mental Health First Aid are assets
  • Trauma Informed Care and/or Brain Story certificate are assets
