Position Summary:

Position: Labourer

Type: Full-time

Location: CNUL/CNRL, Common Services

Schedule: 7 on / 7 off

Shift: Rotating - Days and Nights

Role Summary:

The basic function of the Labourer is to perform unskilled Labour for all phases of operations. This position reports directly to the shift Supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Labourer is responsible to ensure that:


  • All safety standards, procedures and practices are followed.
  • All assigned equipment is operated in a safe and effective manner.
  • All assigned equipment is kept clean in accordance with written standards.
  • Any required repairs to assigned equipment are communicated to maintenance personnel.
  • Perform clean-up on site and at the working location;
  • Install up signs as per highway standard;
  • Be responsible for snow removal;
  • Be responsible for ice removal;
  • Working in hot and cold climates
  • Paint if/when required;
  • Store tools properly;
  • Set up and operation of de-watering systems;
  • Act as a flag person;
  • Spot for loader and other equipment;
  • Patch holes in walkways;
  • Cut grass;
  • Shoveling Snow
  • Pressure washer and steam truck operation;
  • Perform housekeeping functions;
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with customers and other employees;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Site Manager.


Education & Experience:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required
  • Clean 5-year Driver Abstract obtained within 30 days of starting work is required
  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol test and Fit for Duty test
    • Applicants are required to be clean shaven for testing and beyond
    • Applicants must have the ability to lift 50lbs or more
  • Previous experience operating skid steers, zoom booms, and forklifts, with relevant certifications is preferred
  • Safety conscious attitude
  • Must be willing to work in fluctuating climates (hot, cold, wet) and environmental conditions
  • The following tickets would be an asset to your application:
    • WHMIS 2015 Certification is an asset
    • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certification is an asset
    • Rigging Certification is an asset
    • OSSA Confined Space Entry and Monitor Certification is an asset
    • First Aid Certification is an asset
    • H2S Alive Certification is an asset
  • Must have the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English
