Nakiska Winter Sports School Sales Representative/ Instructor Winter 2024-25

Wage: Sales duties $18.00/hr, Instructing duties starting at $20.00/hr for Level 1 qualifications, $25.00/hr for Level 2 qualifications, $27.50/hr for Level 3 qualifications, $30.00/hr for Level 4 qualifications.

Position Overview:

The sales representative and instructing role is a performance and business level dependent blend of sales and instructing duties

Sales Duties

  • Book lessons and assist guests with resort related inquiries
  • Provide superior guest experience and service.
  • Ensure all ski and snowboard lesson bookings are efficient and accurate. This will include interaction face-to-face, over the phone and via email.

Instructing Duties

  • To provide guests with a high quality of ski and/or snowboard instruction. Guests will be of all ages and ability levels and lesson types will vary.
  • Help to ensure that every guest has a safe, fun & informative experience.
  • Carry out duties and other tasks set out by the Winter Sports School as and when required.

Key Areas of Knowledge:

  • Abide by policy and procedures as outlined in the Nakiska Resort Staff Handbook
  • Abide by policy and procedures as outlined in the Winter Sports School Orientation Training
  • Assisting guests with resort related inquiries
  • Have knowledge of Winter Sports School product, ticketing operations and other resort facilities.
  • Have/develop knowledge of skiing and snowboarding to strengthen ability to assess lesson levels to ensure accuracy of lesson bookings.
  • A good knowledge of Canadian ski &/or snowboard instruction practices, or have an internationally recognized certification that is equivalent
  • Adhere to Nakiska Resort health and safety polices and incident /hazard reporting system
  • Strong group management understanding and implementation abilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be willing to accept all assignments that fit within your level of qualification and position in the Winter Sports School.
  • Consistently present and maintain a neat, clean and tidy appearance and a professional image as outlined in your department manual.
  • Provide a superior level of guest service and mountain safety to all visitors and staff.
  • Delivery of excellent ski &/or snowboard instruction, in accordance with standards established by the Ski & Snowboard School.
  • Provide guidance and feedback in a manner that is supportive, encouraging and helps students/ instructors achieve their goals.
  • Ensure all communication with guests and staff is professional, timely and supports the best interests of Nakiska Resort.
  • Assist other mountain departments/management with operational or services tasks assigned by your Supervisor/Manager.
  • Ensure all correspondence and information given is accurate and correct.
  • Previous experience, preferred but, not essential with money handling, knowledge of skiing and/or snowboarding, and guest service-related roles.
  • Delivery of excellent ski &/or snowboard instruction, in accordance with standards established by the Ski & Snowboard School.

  • Have a positive attitude, be punctual, reliable and responsible.
  • Previous experience, preferred but, not essential with money handling, knowledge of skiing and/or snowboarding, and guest service-related roles.
  • Computer literacy is essential, programs include office, in-house booking systems and multiple POS systems.
  • The ability to work without supervision in a methodical and responsible manner.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Minimum level 1 internationally recognized qualification(s) in ski &/or snowboard instruction.
  • The ability to interpret and apply ski &/or snowboard instructing concepts and terminology into simple guest friendly terms.
