Position Title: Program Director, Enterprise Transformation

Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (until March 31, 2027, with potential for renewal)


Mitacs is going through a major enterprise transformation aiming to become more client centric and to enhance how we operate and deliver value to Canadian innovation ecosystem. This initiative is comprised of service and digital transformation elements that are modernizing business applications, converging data and processes through technology.

The Program Director, Enterprise Transformation will play a pivotal role in executing Mitacs' transformation strategy. Reporting to the CEO, this individual will lead an ongoing cross-functional transformation initiative to enhance organizational performance in areas of service delivery, and business operations. This role requires a strategic thinker, skilled change leader, and experienced expert in organizational and digital transformation who can inspire and empower teams to achieve outstanding results.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead, augment and execute the enterprise transformation plan, aligning with organizational goals and vision across people, process and technology elements of transformation.
  • Change Management: Drive change initiatives across the organization, fostering an environment of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement in support of the delivery of digital changes and user adoption.
  • Digital Transformation Direction: Foster digital-first principle through design-thinking across key business elements of sales & service excellence, customer experience improvement, service design by leveraging modern tools - CRM, ERPs, AI and cloud-based supplements.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: As a member of the Executive Steering committee, work closely with senior leadership, including department heads and C-suite executives, to identify, prioritize, and implement transformation initiatives.
  • Transformation Oversight: Own the integrated transformation roadmap and the risk register, while providing regular updates to the transformation steering committee, staff and external stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between executive leadership, employees, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment, buy-in, and successful implementation of transformation programs.
  • Data-driven Decision Making: Work with Operational Excellence Team and the Transformation Management Office to establish metrics, risks and controls to monitor and measure effectiveness of transformation initiatives, including oversight and engagement of external vendors ensuring data-driven decision-making at every stage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, or related field (MBA, Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Transformation or relevant advanced degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in transformation, strategic planning, or change management in a complex organization
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience leading digital transformation through client-centric design of digital journeys, governance of digital agility, value mapping and other principles in environments that utilize modern Microsoft cloud and data technologies.
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale change initiatives and driving operational improvement, with preferred active PMP designation
  • Experience in organizational development, process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma), and digital transformation
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and collaborate with diverse teams
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strategic thinker with a keen ability to balance long-term vision with day-to-day execution
  • Extensive experience working with third-party vendors and outsourced technology initiatives

Success Metrics across three transformation pillars - People, Process and Technology:

  • Successful implementation of transformation initiatives within the defined timeline and budget.
  • Improved operational efficiency and effectiveness through process optimization and automation.
  • Enhanced employee engagement and adoption of new processes and technologies.
  • Positive feedback from stakeholders on the impact and benefits of the transformation initiatives.
  • Building out internal capability to manage and operate digital platform
  • Knowledge of written and spoken English is required in this role as you will interact with colleagues, clients and stakeholders located across Canada.


Hiring Range: $149,515 - $167,105

Only in rare and exceptional circumstances, where a candidate has the experience, skills, and expertise that far exceed those required for the position, would we consider paying above the hiring range for this role.
