Duties and responsibilities include:

  • First Aid - on-snow guest injuries and WorkSafeBC designated worker injuries
  • Incident investigation
  • Risk management
  • Run maintenance
  • Public relations
  • Slope watch
  • Opening and closing runs
  • Snowmobile operations
  • Search and rescue
  • Lift evacuations
  • Assisting with avalanche control and rescue

Required qualifications/skills:

  • A valid and current first-aid ticket from an 80-hour first-aid course minimum. Examples of courses accepted include:
    • OFA 3
    • NUEC 3
    • EMR, PCP or higher license (license must be issued in BC)
    • Australian Ski Patrol Association Certification
    • New Zealand PHEC
    • If you are currently in the process of acquiring a valid first aid ticket inform us within your application and we will take it into consideration
  • Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability
  • Knowledge of Big White Ski Resort is considered an asset
  • AST1, CAA1 or higher and WorkSafeBC Blasting Ticket are all considered assets

Required equipment:

You will be expected to own the following equipment by the planned start date:
  • Helmet
  • 2 full sets of skiing/snowboarding equipment (boots, bindings, ski/snowboard)
  • Probe and shovel
  • Smartphone

Patrol recruitment timeline:

June 1st - Recruitment pool opens
August 1st - Interviews start
August 22nd - Reference checks
September-October - Job offers are sent out
November 4th (tentative) - Training starts

Location:
Big White Ski Resort, British Columbia

Position duration:
Early-November to mid-April

Salary:
Training and starting wage - $20.50/hr

Equipment and first aid allowances will be provided as bonuses once a full season is completed
