Description

The Driver provides pick-up and delivery services to donors, clients & customers by exercising safe and careful driving and material handling procedures. Probation period: 3 months.

Hours:

  • Monday -Thursday- Friday - 8:30 am-5:00 pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the safe and careful handling of all deliveries, donations, kettle & other funds while protecting property, including donations & vehicles
  • Takes responsibility for daily and overall safety, maintenance, operation of vehicle and bailer, & records of such
  • Provides customers and donors with courteous and diplomatic service
  • Maintains knowledge of legislative and company policies such as Health & Safety Regulations, provincial and municipal highway traffic acts
  • Performs circle checks of trucks and maintains truck logs
  • Loads and unloads goods at the warehouse, destinations, and other storage facilities
  • Operates bailer efficiently and safely as part of the textile recycling program
  • Coordinates and oversees pick-ups of recyclable goods
  • Supports warehouse team by participating in receiving, processing and production of donated goods
  • Hosts and supports volunteers
  • Participates in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse
  • Performs other duties as assigned

NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • The successful job applicant will have completed High School, plus specialized courses of up to six (6) months.
  • *NOTE: For some jobs, you may be required to provide validated educational documentation.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Some retail experience an asset but not necessary

The successful applicant will hold/have:

  • Valid BC class "5" license with appropriate certification
  • Fork Lift Certification
  • First Aid Certificate
  • WHMIS Certificate
  • Proof of clean driving record
  • RCMP Background Check
  • Clearance from the National Abuse Registry
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training

  • Wear safety shoes
  • Wear gloves
