About the role

As we continue our expansion both locally and globally, we are seeking an experienced and globally-minded Business Development Manager specializing in BioPharma, Biotech, CRO, and CDMO sectors. This role is crucial for meeting the increasing demands of our business and achieving corporate sales targets.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new customers and supporting existing ones, primarily in the United States. Key regions include the Northeast (Massachusetts and the Boston area, New Jersey, and the New York area) and the West Coast (California, Oregon, and Washington).

This position is pivotal in driving the company’s growth and success within this sector. Responsibilities include overseeing strategic partnerships, negotiating contracts, and identifying growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This role is integral to our growth strategy and requires a proactive, strategic thinker with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Design specific and actionable plans to achieve company growth targets in the BioPharma/Biotech/CRO/CDMO client segment.
  • Develop relationships potential clients/customers such as Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Merck, J&J, Abbvie, Scripp, Lonza, Genentech, Amgen
  • Provide ongoing support and relationship management for existing customers, ensuring their needs are met and fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to penetrate new markets and expand presence in existing ones.
  • Own and exceed sales targets for the client segment.
  • Lead and manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals, and meeting customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D, marketing, and logistics, to ensure seamless execution of business strategies.
  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to potential clients.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Monitor and report on sales performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings.
  • Travel as needed to meet with customers and partners, primarily within the specified regions.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, professional, and business-minded natural salesperson.
  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in biological sciences; an MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the BioPharma/Biotech/CRO/CDMO business.
  • Strong leadership skills and extensive network within the biotech industry, particularly with bio-pharmaceutical companies.
  • Experienced in prospecting and developing new business accounts and relationships.
  • Excellent negotiator and communicator with outstanding active listening skills.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
