About This Role:

In this co-op position, you will work closely with our professionals and have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on engineering experience in a challenging and versatile working environment. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, comfortable multitasking, and excited about improving their own skills and contributing to our processes.

The assignment will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, managers and others in different departments in the organization, and provide an understanding of some of the workings within the operating, maintenance, and engineering & projects groups.

In This Role You Will:

  • Be integrated into the maintenance department and work directly with the mechanical/electrical managers, senior maintenance manager, and interface with other departments such as Engineering, Health and Safety, … as needed.
  • Interface with other staff (electrical and mechanical foremen, electricians, and mechanics) when needed to execute technical projects.
  • Be assigned projects related to process improvement, automated data retrieval, and reliability studies.
  • Prepare basic design and/or engineering reports when requested.
  • Program PLCs and control systems related to equipment upgrades and/or improvements.
  • Engage various internal and external stakeholders and team members in completion of capital projects.
  • Perform engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies, and complete written reports/proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure.
  • Recommend process improvements and ensure compliance to company and industry codes and standards.
  • Gather information and source documentation from our suppliers and preferred Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
  • Aid in analysis activities and support best design practices.
  • Document system performance specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an Post Secondary Electrical or Mechatronics engineering Co-op program.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sound judgement and initiative
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
  • Ability to summarize, organizational planning and problem solver
  • A passion for learning and continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Passionate about data analysis and system automation
  • Some coding experience
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize multiple tasks
