Role Description

The International Finance team supports the International Real Estate Portfolio and its continued growth. In this position, the Accountant, International Finance is primarily responsible for the financial reporting requirements of the International Real Estate portfolio. The Accountant, International Finance works closely with QuadReal's International Portfolio Management team, BCI's investment accounting team and the custodian to ensure that all statutory, internal and external reporting requirements are complete and accurate. This unique role also provides opportunities to get involved in many aspects of portfolio operations including internal controls, full cycle accounting, valuations, investment accounting, banking, tax and legal compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review the consolidation of the International Real Estate Portfolio.
  • Review and reconcile partner financial statements under numerous different GAAP (US GAAP, UK GAAP, etc.) to IFRS.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements of International Real Estate entities to provide to lenders and the audit committee.
  • Prepare audited annual financial statements for Pooled Investment Portfolios and other International Real Estate entities including notes thereto.
  • Ensure timely preparation for all required financial reporting to key lenders including compliance calculations and other statutory financial statement preparation.
  • Working closely with the International Valuations team, review partner financial statements on a quarterly basis to determine a net asset value (NAV) at fair value
  • Monitor and maintain debt facilities to ensure agreement with third party and compliance requirements
  • Prepare monthly subledger and general ledger account reconciliations and working papers.
  • Complete investment accounting and reporting for pooled investment portfolios.
  • Report and reconcile holdings and transactions for holding structures.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records in Yardi.
  • Assist with research for new International Financial Reporting Standards as needed and accounting treatment for special transactions.
  • Maintain internal controls and recommend changes where weaknesses are identified.
  • Provide assistance to other staff members as required.
  • Respond to inquiries from corporate staff, clients and auditors.
  • Other related duties as required.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years accounting experience with an understanding of accounting principles, specifically consolidation principles, and full cycle accounting.
  • Business Degree with a specialization in accounting (or equivalent) and working towards professional accounting designation (CPA).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience in the real estate industry and with Yardi is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of accounting and reporting.
  • Organized and efficient with strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to work under pressure with changing priorities.
  • Attention to detail, high degree of accuracy and strong adherence to established deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems, seek direction where required and take informed, decisive action when needed.
  • Proven ability to exercise a high level of integrity in all business transactions.
  • Desire to grow and take on increased responsibility with the organization.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $65,000 to $78,000

The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual's skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
