The Research Assistant performs laboratory procedures related to studies of brain cancer and neurodevelopmental diseases. A specific emphasis is on using mouse and cerebral organoid models, combined with multi-modal sequencing-based strategies to understand how genetic and epigenetic alterations contribute to oncogenesis (Chen et al. 2020; Khazaei et al. 2023). The successful candidate will (1) design and perform a wide variety of experiments largely related to the development of new murine preclinical model to identify cancer driver genes, (2) process primary tumor tissue for genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic profiling, and (3) perform laboratory maintenance tasks including ordering, recording of results, data entry, orientation of new personnel. Candidates with experience and/or interest in epigenetics, mouse models of brain cancer, and neurodevelopment are especially encouraged to apply.
Entry to this advanced working level is restricted to those who are thoroughly conversant with all of the complexities of the specific research programs and methodologies of the hiring laboratory. They are expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the performance of duties such as staff supervision and scheduling of work, administrative support, and collaboration on research papers. They are designated the responsibility of ensuring that the day-to-day work meets the research objectives.

Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time (Until October 31, 2025)
Salary Range: $62,239- $89,469 per year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
