Job Summary:

The Senior Internal Communications Specialist provides guidance, support and direction to their internal clients and is responsible for developing and executing strategic internal communication initiatives that align with BCLC's corporate objectives, purpose and goals.

The Senior Internal Communications Specialist supports the Manager, Internal Communications and overall Internal Communications department in delivering impactful messaging, tactics and events ensuring BCLC employees are aware, informed and engaged.

Proactively steps-in and tackles projects and initiatives that are required and necessary to achieve department goals and objectives.

Accountabilities:

  • Provides support, direction and guidance in the development and execution of internal communications initiatives and materials, centered around BCLC's business priorities and corporate strategy.
  • In a timely manner, responsible for independently drafting communications plans and strategies, execute the outlined tactics and ensure communications needs of internal clients are met.
  • Proactively builds, develops, maintains and manages strong working relationships within the team, their clients, and across the organization through regular communication.
  • Effectively manages workload and deploys processes to successfully execute initiatives in a timely manner.
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of complex and specialized internal communications projects such employee sessions, quarterly town halls and other such events that may arise.
  • Effectively utilizes all existing internal communication tools and tactics and implements new methods as well, to ensure that messages are communicated effectively to internal audiences.
  • Creates clear, engaging and consistent messaging for various communications channels including but not limited to the intranet, videos, emails, etc.
  • Supports employee engagement initiatives through targeted campaigns, events, surveys etc.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor and internal communications expert for their clients.
  • Able to translate complex information into accessible messaging for diverse employee audiences.
  • Proactively identifies emerging issues and opportunities on a regular basis and recommends appropriate communications solutions.
  • Identifies and takes initiative to address department needs and work that may arise.
  • Responsible for the distribution of sensitive information to senior management in a timely manner.
  • Provides solutions, recommendations, advice and support to leaders in the organization in the communication of internal messages to ensure transparency and understanding.
  • Fosters trust and credibility through ongoing, clear, accurate, open, timely and two-way communication with internal audiences.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • A degree or diploma in communications, journalism and or public relations;
  • 5-7 years current, related experience in a strategic communications position;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Technical Requirements

  • Proven ability to provide direction and leadership based upon comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of strategic internal communications, corporate communications, and issues management;
  • Demonstrated experience in the best practices of online communications;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with clarity while maintaining appropriate degrees of diplomacy, discretion and tact;
  • Exceptional written communication skills, editing skills, and capacity to tailor information for various internal and external audiences;
  • Demonstrated experience in the strategic development and implementation of communications plans;
  • Outstanding critical thinking skills and demonstrated problem solving capabilities;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment;
  • High level of creativity, initiative and attention to detail;
  • Exceptional time management skills;
  • Strong computer skills - MS Office suite;
  • General business acumen;
  • Understanding of B.C. gaming industry is an asset.
