The Senior Programmer develops, maintains and manages complex research and business application and databases within BCCHRI. The Senior Programmer designs, programs, tests and maintains application code ensuring that applications are built according to user requirements and departmental standards, and is involved with all the implementation phases of the software development lifecycle. This includes coding, testing, debugging, version control, deployment, system installation, documentation, training, support and maintenance of the software applications employed by BCCHRI. What you'll do Uses methodologies and technologies approved by IM/IT to support software coding functions, business rules and user interfaces for applications used by BCCHRI and its stakeholders. Performs testing, debugging and maintenance on research and business software. In charge of quality assurance efforts while performing functional, load and regression testing. Maintains software documentation, ensuring that software code is properly annotated and well documented. Responsible for version control and deployment of new software builds. Assists in creating new software application prototypes for review and approval by project stakeholders. Assists in the maintenance of backend supporting applications such as databases, application servers or any other auxiliary software required by the research applications. Helps identify and problem solve issues that arise in the network pertaining to use of research or business applications developed by BCCHRI. Assists in researching and recommending software technologies, methodologies and tools for upcoming projects. Performs other related duties as assigned. What you bring Qualifications Graduation from a recognized degree or diploma program in Computer Science, two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work.
