Description

The Salvation Army is looking for a team player, flexible, self-starter, personable individual who wants to make a positive impact in their community. If you enjoy driving in the city of Victoria, meeting people to provide delivery and pick up services for Victoria's Christmas donations - mainly toys and food then you should join our team as a Christmas Pickup & Delivery Driver for 3 ministry units in Victoria CRD.

This is a Temporary, Seasonal Fulltime position for 6 weeks - 37.5 hrs per week.

Hours may vary between days and evenings.

Approximately the position is from end of November 2024 to first week of January 2025.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with all three Salvation Army ministry locations - Connection Point Church & Resource Centre, High Point Community Church and Victoria Citadel & Next Steps Resource Centre providing for their specific donation requirements or other needs they have for the truck & driver.
  • To coordinate your work week between the three ministry units
  • Engage with donors, giving thanks and providing information on how The Salvation Army assists for Christmas and throughout the year.
  • Safely collect and deliver donations from designated locations back to all three units or the one that is specified. If needed help with sorting toys & food donations for sharing between the ministry
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Class 4 Drivers License

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • High accountability in the care, pick up and distribution of donations
  • Ability to work independently & as part of a team
  • Positive & friendly working attitude
  • Can lift objects up to 25lbs, familiar with using a dolly & trolley carts for multiple or heavier items
  • Interest in working both inside and outdoors
  • Positively represent The Salvation Army and reflect its mission and core values

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, will be required to provide:

  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean drivers abstract
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
