Position Overview

The Administrative Secretary provides administrative support to a multidisciplinary team environment. Reporting to the Manager or delegate, the Administrative Secretary provides general administrative support for program staff and physicians, data entry, word processing, faxing, photocopying, filing, mail distribution, and a variety of other duties as required. The incumbent will contribute to a respectful work environment and participate in workload sharing with the Cardiac Sciences administrative support team.

Experience

  • Two years directly related experience preferred.
  • Experience scheduling and coordinating meetings preferred.
  • Ability to record and prepare minutes and agendas preferred.
  • Previous healthcare experience would be an asset.
  • Experience with email and computerized calendars.
  • Data entry experience with knowledge in Accuro and EPR would be an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba Standards, required.
  • Successful completion of a recognized medical secretarial program required.
  • Completion of a recognized medical terminology course.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize a large workload and independently complete a variety of secretarial duties.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

  • Required to work for long periods of time at a computer.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
