POSITION SUMMARY

  • Responsible for cooking menu items for all diets in quantities as specified on all production sheets; prepares menu items as specified for the cooking rotation currently assigned to;
  • Must strictly follow all guidelines pertaining to Cook Chill production;
  • Complies with Jewish dietary laws as determined by the Simkin Centre;
  • Maintains ingredient and portion control as per standardized recipes;
  • Supervises and replaces dietary staff in the absence of the Food Services Manager or designate;
  • Performs all duties in accordance with established health and safety regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds utilizing appropriate lifting techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Grade XII education
  • English-as-a-Additional Language (EAL) Level 6 required. Must successfully complete a prescribed skills test
  • Certificate from a recognized cooking school, or two years experience with excellent references working as a Cook / relief Cook in the Simkin Centre
  • Valid Food Handler Certificate

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two years relevant experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Experience in a cook chill production environment
