JOB PURPOSE

As a member of the interdisciplinary team and partner in patient care, participate in quality care planning and delivery of patient and family centred care in a department where services range from:

  • inpatient infant, child, adolescent,
  • in patient paediatric mental health,
  • paediatric outpatients,
  • on occasions off service adult Medical/Surgical inpatient's.

QUALIFICATIOS:

  • Active RN registration with NANB.
  • Minimum of 1-year recent experience as an RN in an acute Paediatric in- patient department essential.
  • Written and spoken competence in English essential.
  • Current BLS certification, with commitment to undertake PALS, and Non- Violent Crisis Intervention certification mandatory within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability in Paediatric patient assessment and care planning skills, and to function independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to rapidly changing priorities, complex paediatric patient care needs, and emergency situations for patients of all ages.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform drug calculations with accuracy and as they pertain to children and neonates, in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated teaching, communication, interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Good work and attendance record, ability and commitment to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Current immunization for vaccine preventable diseases required.
  • Physically able to perform assigned duties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primarily will be assigned to 3SE Paediatrics, however may be reassigned to other units within the Maternal and Child Health Program as required.
  • Provide quality patient care within the scope of professional RN nursing practice to patients and families, and to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work assignments, schedules, and shift rotations are subject to changes to meet priorities of the operational requirements of 3SE, Maternal Child Health Program and facility occupancy.
