The Opportunity

As a Prep Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and nourishment of campers and staff, contributing to the life-changing experience that is Camp Glenburn. Reporting to the Head Cook, the Prep Cook will assist in preparing and serving healthy, balanced meals in a residential camp environment. With a focus on teamwork, safety, and quality, this role ensures that up to 200 people per meal are well-fed, energized, and ready to take on the day.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve three healthy, balanced meals daily in collaboration with the Head Cook.
  • Maintain the kitchen's cleanliness, inventory, and organization.
  • Accommodate food allergies and dietary requirements in coordination with the Camp Health and Wellness Director.
  • Uphold a professional and welcoming kitchen environment.
  • Demonstrate YMCA values in every interaction with staff, volunteers, and participants.
  • Attend staff meetings, planning sessions, and training events as required.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience working in a kitchen setting; food preparation knowledge is an asset.
  • NB Food Safety Course training (or willingness to obtain).
  • Comfortable handling allergens and creating alternate menus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
  • Employment is contingent on clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Social Development Clearance Check.
