The Opportunity
As the Head Cook at Camp Glenburn, you'll do more than prepare meals; you'll nourish our campers and staff, helping fuel the life-changing experiences that happen here every day. Reporting to the Camp Director, you'll lead the kitchen team in delivering healthy, balanced meals for up to 200 people daily. With a focus on health, safety, and creativity, you'll ensure dietary needs are met, allergies are managed, and every meal is served with care. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve three nutritious meals daily in a residential camp setting.
  • Ensure the camp kitchen is clean, safe, and organized.
  • Oversee food orders, storage, and budget management.
  • Lead and train a team of 2 Prep Cooks, fostering a positive and productive kitchen environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Wellness Coordinator to accommodate allergies and special dietary requirements.
  • Manage staff schedules and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Model professionalism, teamwork, and the YMCA's values in every interaction.


Skills and Qualifications

  • High school or post-secondary education.
  • NB Food Safety Course certification.
  • Proven experience leading kitchen operations and supervising staff.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience handling food allergies and creating alternate menus.
  • First Aid & CPR certification and WHMIS training are assets.
  • Flexibility to work full-time with varying hours during the camp season.
  • Employment is contingent on clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Social Development Clearance Check.
