The Opportunity

As the Health and Wellness Director, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our campers and staff. Reporting to the Camp Glenburn Director, you'll lead our health care services, provide emergency care, administer medications, and educate the camp community on preventative health practices. Your leadership will help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for everyone at Camp Glenburn.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain a fully equipped infirmary to provide health care for campers and staff.
  • Administer emergency care, first aid, and routine medical assistance.
  • Safely manage the storage, inventory, and administration of medications.
  • Maintain accurate health records and communicate health issues to guardians.
  • Review pre-camp health forms for campers and staff.
  • Train and guide camp staff on health protocols and safety practices.
  • Provide leadership in health-related matters across the camp community.
  • Serve as a positive role model for campers, staff, and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the Camp Glenburn team to support various camp operations.
  • Submit a final report summarizing key health insights and recommendations for future seasons.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years toward a BNRN degree (or equivalent experience in healthcare).
  • Strong knowledge of medication administration (oral and subcutaneous).
  • Proficiency in conducting health assessments.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced camp environment.
  • A clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Social Development Clearance.
