The Opportunity

As a Fitness Coach at the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick, you will play a vital role in supporting members on their personal fitness journeys. You will engage with our diverse community, fostering an inclusive environment where individuals can grow physically, socially, and emotionally. Working with both members and community partners, you will deliver meaningful fitness programming, ensuring that every workout is safe, effective, and enjoyable. This is a casual position that reports to the Fitness Floor Supervisor and requires flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends, at the Saint John Regional Y.


Responsibilities

  • Engage with members on the fitness floor, offering guidance, exercise demonstrations, and scheduling personalized training sessions.
  • Ensure the fitness equipment is in excellent working condition and accessible to all members.
  • Provide safe and effective instruction for individual and group fitness activities.
  • Respond promptly to member needs and concerns with professionalism and care.
  • Offer lifestyle advice to members interested in enhancing their fitness experience at the Y.
  • Monitor safety on the fitness floor and provide first aid assistance when required.
  • Support special events and help maintain a clean, welcoming fitness environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver innovative programs based on feedback and fitness trends.


Skills and Qualifications

  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification (required).
  • Certification in any streams of group fitness will be considered an asset.
  • Personal Training Certification from a nationally recognized organization will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Available to work flexible hours, could include; mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check
