The YMCA Southwestern New Brunswick is working hard to address the critical issues facing the region; the health crisis, population decline, youth outmigration and child poverty. At the Y, we are striving to build a diverse and inclusive community where each person is valued for the unique perspectives and contributions they bring.

The Y offers a diverse set of programs at 19 locations in the city and surrounding municipalities. We are a community of 450 employees and 500 volunteers. If you don't have a Y story yet - now is your opportunity to get involved. We invite you to come to see what the power of belonging can do for you, your career and your community.

The Opportunity

As a Lifeguard & Swim Instructor, you'll play a critical role in creating a safe, welcoming, and fun aquatic environment for our community. Working closely with the Aquatics Supervisor, you'll ensure the safety and well-being of everyone in and around the pool while delivering high-quality, values-driven swim lessons. Whether you're vigilantly watching over swimmers or leading them in structured lessons, your efforts will help participants of all ages learn and grow in their aquatic skills.

Each day will involve monitoring the pool area, guiding swimmers through their lessons, and stepping in during emergencies to provide lifesaving care like resuscitation and first aid. Your presence and attention to detail ensure everyone feels safe and supported in the water.

This is a casual position, with opportunities for flexible shifts, including early mornings, days, evenings, and weekends.

  • Maintain up-to-date records of participants, including progress sheets and Daily Logs.
