Your future role on our team

We're currently looking for an engineer-in-training in structural engineering. You need to enjoy technical challenges, demonstrate strong communication skills and have excellent business acumen. You'll be responsible for leading projects and developing business relationships with our clients in Québec's Côte-Nord and in the Labrador region.

By joining our team, you'll be required to help with the various stages of industrial project execution that require structural expertise, from proposals, design and site surveys to preparing reports and overseeing the work. Additionally, you'll be responsible for ensuring quality professional services and for maintaining strong client relationships.

This is a permanent position. You'll spend the first three months working at a major centre, followed by a temporary assignment (two years) at our Labrador City office. After which, you'll return to a major centre or remain in Labrador City to pursue your career.

  • Assist with site inspections and surveys.
  • Help prepare plans, design specifications and reports.
  • Design steel and concrete structures.
  • Perform other technical functions to support project delivery.
  • Help prepare estimates, bills of quantities, schedules, budgets, specifications and reports.
  • When required, participate in monitoring and commissioning technological solutions.
  • Help control the work quality of drafters.
  • Assess client satisfaction and maintain close and harmonious relationships with clients and their representatives.
  • Coordinate the work of contractors on site and monitor work.

Summary of certifications and job requirements

  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland & Labrador (PEGNL)
  • Basic experience in designing steel and concrete industrial buildings and structures
  • Knowledge of how to read drawings
  • Intermediate knowledge of workplace safety (workers' compensation) and field monitoring
  • Intermediate knowledge of quality system procedures and instructions
  • Proficiency with the code of ethics
  • Knowledge of project management, technical writing and problem solving
  • Creative and innovative in finding solutions
  • Hold an ASP Construction card for health and general safety on construction sites (BBA can offer this training)
  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • Asset: relevant experience in monitoring or supervising site work
