Your Contribution

As a Geotechnical Technician (Co-op May- December), you will work in collaboration with the Geotechnical team

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety rules
  • Sampling and Laboratory testing of soils, concrete and asphalt including sieve analyses, hydrometers, Atterberg Limits and Proctors;
  • QA/QC Inspection of asphalt pavement, waterproofing, rebar, formwork, concrete placement, etc.;
  • Field testing of soils, and asphalt using a nuclear density gauge
  • In-situ coring of asphalt and concrete;
  • Preparation of inspection and test reports;
  • Participate in activities related to the quality system;
  • Observe excavation, backfill, and compaction at construction sites including earthwork and foundation construction;
  • Draft inspection reports
  • Observe and log pile driving measurements
  • Other related construction inspection

Your Profile

  • High school diploma
  • Studying in a program related to Civil or Mining Engineering and eligible for a Summer Co-op term;
  • Experience in construction materials testing (asset);
  • Good oral and written English communication skills;
  • Ability to sample up to 25kg of materials continuously;
  • Ability to read engineering drawings;
  • Ability to discuss issues on the site with the inspector and contractor
  • Ability to work shift, overtime and week-ends;
  • Familiar with field and lab testing equipment (nuclear gauge, sieve and proctor equipment)
  • A valid driver's license;
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and consideration for occupational health and safety
