About the role

Are you ready for a new challenge within a dynamic team? Do you have a passion for risk control and care about the customer experience? We're looking for a Senior Risk Control Consultant to join our national remote risk assessment team!

In this role, you have the option to work fully remote, or go into one of our offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessments: Conduct remote and virtual self-assessments of medium to complex risks, working with insureds and partners to improve risk control measures.

  • Education: Provide technical advice to policyholders on sound risk management practices.

  • Reporting: Write detailed reports and make recommendations based on company policies and technical expertise. Follow up with policyholders, underwriters, and brokers.

  • Technical Support: Answer technical questions and advise partners on the application of our risk control guidelines.

  • Technology: Use emerging technology tools for remote risk analysis.

  • Strategic Projects: Participate in strategic projects and continuous improvement of guidelines and processes.

  • Productivity & Quality: Meet or exceed productivity and quality standards in risk control.

Qualifications:

  • Education: University degree in science or equivalent training/experience in claims, underwriting, architecture, building mechanics, etc.

  • Certifications: College diploma (DEC), attestation of college studies (AEC), university certificate (TAPI) in fire prevention. TPI, PAA, and/or CRM designations are a plus.

  • Experience: At least 5 years in risk control or a related field in commercial lines insurance.

  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of risk control principles, fire protection, and construction codes/standards.

  • Skills:

    • Excellent listening, observation, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills in a remote environment.

    • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.

    • Highly adaptable to change.

  • Technology: Proficient in emerging technologies for remote risk assessment and online research.

  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Office suite applications, and third-party communication tools like Zoom, Webex, and MS Teams.

  • Languages: Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Additional Information:

  • Position: Permanent, 35 hours per week, telework.

  • Travel: Occasional travel for meetings and training may be required.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
