Join the Insurance and Securitization team, in the position of Analyst, Financial Services. You will provide direct first-line financial guidance to clients, and support and assist senior colleagues and management in a range of activities related to accounting, cost allocation, reconciliation, financial planning, reporting and analysis. You will maintain timely and accurate records, verify and reconcile entries and investigate discrepancies. Also, you will support financial planning, including calculating financial inputs to business planning activities (budget, corporate plan). You will provide preliminary analysis for the implementation of financial policies, procedures and systems and for advice relating to specific financial policy and systems areas.

This is a temporary position of a duration of 13 months.

What you'll do:

  • Contribute to the preparation of budgets, forecasts and budget impact analysis.
  • Prepare and analyze financial data, resolve issues and flag/escalate issues to senior colleagues and management for solutions and ensure compliance for the purpose of variance and trend analysis.
  • Contribute financial data and analysis to support the period close process and the preparation of ongoing reports and scorecards.
  • Process financial transactions in compliance with agreements/contracts/procedures.
  • Carry out reconciliations between systems, subsystems and reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of records and financial analysis spreadsheets
  • Produce financial metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) in collaboration with line of business.
  • Create and maintain proper records and spreadsheets to track recoveries, revenues and expenses and ensure application to appropriate budget lines, initiatives, contracts or projects.
  • Conduct analysis and may prepare draft reports of findings to assist in monitoring compliance with CMHC policies and the financial management framework and identifying any noted trends within the information collected.

What you should have:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field such as accounting, finance or business administration.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial, legislative, and regulatory environments.
  • Understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage several ongoing and competing projects.
  • Ability to function in a sophisticated technological environment using tools such as spreadsheets, databases, applications as well as consolidation and reporting tools.
  • Oral and written communication skills to clarify and explain financial concepts, policies, applications, processes and systems and respond to inquiries from internal/external stakeholders.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) would be an asset.
