Are you ready to take the next step toward your CPA designation and gain real-world experience in financial auditing? Join the Office of the Auditor General of Nova Scotia, an independent and nonpartisan office of the House of Assembly. Our mandate, derived from the Auditor General Act, includes issuing opinions on government financial statements and conducting performance audits of public sector operations. Through this work, we help the House of Assembly hold the government accountable for managing public funds and contribute to a well-performing public sector. What You Will Do


Under the guidance of senior auditors, you will assist in conducting financial audits, including:

  • Testing and evaluating internal controls and transactions.
  • Assessing business processes and performing data analysis.
  • Reviewing compliance with policies and legislation.

As part of a collaborative audit team, you’ll work with provincial government organizations, adding value and gaining hands-on experience in financial auditing. Limited travel within Nova Scotia may be required.

What You Will Bring To The Role

You are motivated, enthusiastic, and ready to tackle new challenges. You bring:

  • A strong academic record and interest in pursuing a CPA designation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Experience managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary institution degree program with a major in accounting (3rd or 4th year).
  • Returning to school for at least one term.
  • Working toward completion of all prerequisites for entry into the Canadian CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
