Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
The School of Nursing is now accepting applications for Clinical Instructor positions in the winter term of year 2025 which runs from January 6 - April 4, 2025.

WORK ASSIGNMENT: Instructors are responsible for teaching and supervising a group of BScN students who provide direct client care in clinical settings, work in a clinical skills and simulation lab or tutorial group setting. Tasks include but are not limited to lab demonstrations, marking and proctoring term tests and final examinations as well as evaluating assignments.

Access to a computer (no tablet/iPad/phone) with working internet to run Microsoft Teams for online meetings and instruction is required. Clinical Instructors will report to the instructor of record for their course and work under the protection of CUPE Collective Agreement 3912 - Dalhousie University. N2725 (Clinical Integration 2)

  • | SIMULATION LABS: Not to exceed 71 hrs
(Thursdays a.m. or p.m.)
  • Two-week CLINICAL: Not to exceed 100 hrs

N2740 (Nursing and Family Health)

(Background in Family Nursing required)
  • TUTORIALS: Not to exceed 22 hrs,
held bi-weekly (Fridays p.m.)


N2750 (Health and Healing II: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics)

(Background in Pathophysiology required)
  • TUTORIALS: Not to exceed 22 hrs
held weekly (Wednesdays p.m.)

N3710 (Nursing and Episodic Illness: Preventative Care and Interventions)

(Background in MedSurg Nursing required)

N3715 (Clinical Integration 3)

(Experience in Med/Surg and/or Mental Health Nursing required)

Graduate course

  • LAB ASSISTANCE: Not to exceed 64 hrs
A graduate degree as Nurse Practitioner, an active RN license with the NSCN, as well as two years of recent clinical experience is required.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION in BScN program: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, an active RN license with the NSCN, as well as two years of recent clinical experience is required. Clinical teaching experience (which may include preceptorship of staff or students) is essential. Instructors working in the lab are required to participate in SIM training sessions or workshops.

Preference will be given to applicants that are available to do SIM/labs and Clinical in the same course.
