RSPT 3252.03 Health Practice, Winter 2025

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course enables students to apply theories, practice clinical skills and integrate previous learning experiences acquired throughout the three years of the BHSc program. Students will be assigned to a rotating clinical schedule at various clinical sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The instructor will be responsible for managing 10 student projects (10 students) associated with evidence-based-decision-making (EBDM). There will be three seminars (in March 2025) and each student will be responsible for a presentation of their EBDM project including background information, clinical question, search strategy, appraisal of results, and facilitators and barriers to applying the evidence to clinical practice. Students will utilize the feedback given to create an abstract and e-poster to share their research. The sessional will also be responsible for grading these assignments.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
An understanding of EBDM and practical experience with this process in applying new research evidence to clinical practice. Previous teaching experience and knowledge of respiratory therapy required. A relevant master's degree required. Experience with Brightspace or equivalent learning management systems would be considered an asset. Excellent organizational and written communication skills are required.
Salary Range/Pay Rate The pay will be one half of the CUPE rate for half credit.
