Reporting to the Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) Manager and Supervisor of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department, the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician identifies, disassembles, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, processes and distributes reusable supplies to the nursing units, clinics and departments. The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician is responsible for providing sterile equipment and supplies to the Surgical Suite and is responsible for the reprocessing of flexible scopes within the Endoscopy and Operating Room Departments. Other job-related duties required.
All responsibilities are carried out in adherence to professional standards, manufacturer's instructions and departmental policies and procedures. The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician ensures that the principles and practices that guide our work at Nova Scotia Health such as the mission, vision, values, expected behaviors, the leadership philosophy, organizational health, population health, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships, and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the services they provide and through the messages they deliver.

*Where there are no applicants who have completed the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program, consideration for a Medical Device Reprocessing in Training may be given to applicants who are currently enrolled in an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program or who commit to completing this program at their own expense within the first 14 months of employment (must submit proof of course enrollment within six weeks of being hired into the Medical Device Reprocessing in Training position).
