Operations Assistant

Lac La Martre Adventures is 100% Indigenous owned by Tłı̨chǫ Adventures Ltd., a subsidiary of Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation. Lac La Martre Adventures is a remote fly-in sport fishing (catch and release) lodge located on its own island on Lac La Martre in the Northwest Territories. We operate under the umbrella of Tłı̨chǫ Adventures Ltd., committed to providing excellent experiences for guests engaging in a remote wilderness adventure.

Responsibilities:

As an Operations Assistant, you will be responsible for an exceptional experience to our guests. This includes duties relating to shore duties and guiding fishing trips on the water, as needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • General maintenance for water supply, plumbing, sewage, generators, heating, refrigeration, and fire suppression systems.
  • Maintain or arrange servicing for land/marine vehicles, grounds equipment, and power tools.
  • Track, organize, and maintain tools, supplies, and on-the-land/marine equipment
  • Ensure guest safety, adherence to fishing regulations, and provide fishing instruction as needed
  • Promote and enforce safe boating practices while navigating large water bodies.
  • Help unload float planes, boats, vehicles, and transport equipment/supplies safely.
  • Perform general camp duties to keep the environment clean and organized.
  • Share local knowledge of local flora, fauna, cultural, and fishing techniques to enrich the wilderness experience.
  • Maintain all boating, fishing, and lodge operating equipment.
  • Support Operations as Needed - Step in for absent or ill staff and contribute to overall successful business operations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a fishing guide preferred. Willing to train.
  • In-depth knowledge of fishing techniques, equipment, and local fishing regulations.
  • Experience working with hands, including equipment maintenance, boat operation, and basic mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair lodge equipment as needed is preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable using tools and handling minor construction or maintenance tasks is highly valued.
  • Experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, or other trades is a strong asset
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical fitness and ability to handle outdoor conditions
