POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Project Specialist, using change management and quality methodologies, will be responsible for continuous improvement initiatives and projects within two or more service delivery centres with the goal of streamlining processes and increasing progress towards operational goals.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Quality and Patient Safety

  • Facilitate the identification, development, implementation and monitoring of quality improvement initiatives enabled by expert working knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and project management.
  • Build organizational capacity for improvement through coaching and mentoring and share knowledge of patient safety principles legislated standards and quality improvement methodology. (e.g., reliable design, Human Factors, PDSA, root cause analysis, FMEA, lean, value stream mapping).
  • Apply a systems-focused approach to achieve optimal results in quality, safety, reliability, efficiency, and productivity in collaboration with Professional Practice and local level business lines.
  • Assist in the selection and analysis of quality-related performance indicators to monitor project and local level performance to ensure alignment with the operational plan.
  • Assist teams with education to support collection, interpretation, analysis and presentation of performance data.
  • Apply change management principles and coach clinical teams through the change process.
  • Participate in review of clinical incidents, facilitate discussions and recommend action plans.
  • Contribute to the achievement and maintenance of corporate patient safety standards and Accreditation Canada Required Organizational Practices.
  • Promote and model a "just culture" environment

Project Management

  • Lead several small and larger scale process improvement projects through the application of proven methodologies e.g., lean, value stream mapping, PDSA cycles, Human Centric Design Principles.
  • Champion critical operational projects with multiple stakeholders under tight timelines
  • Lead, mentor and coach all stakeholders through project management principles (leadership, administrative, point-of-care)
  • Support building of sustainability of results and enhance competency building at the local site level; enhancing QI knowledge to improve processes and sustain change.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in health-related field, Quality & Patient Safety or Health Administration/Policy with 3 to 4 years related experience (or a combination of education and experience)
  • Regulated Health Professional with current Regulatory College Registration in good standing preferred
  • Incident analysis and patient safety training or certification an asset
  • Project Management training / experience preferred
  • Patient safety improvement experience in a clinical environment required
  • Demonstrated change management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven organizational, problem solving, time management, meeting facilitation and critical thinking abilities
  • Self-directed and strong collaborative skills
  • Experience with adult learning an asset
  • Experience with MS office required
