Your Opportunity

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Connect people with First Nations heritage and local ecology by creating warm and welcoming experiences for park guests of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds
  • Deliver informative and entertaining educational programs for organized groups and the public both in person and in a virtual environment
  • Assist with the development and implementation of innovative new programs to meet the changing needs of the community
  • Assist with updating and creating new interpretative props, gardens, displays, and signage
  • Maintain program equipment & supplies, existing and seasonal interpretative displays, signage, and brochures
  • Perform related duties in other Conservation Halton parks or at community-based venues, as required
  • Perform light cleaning duties
  • Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
  • Other duties as assigned

Your Qualifications

  • Cultural/lived experience as an Indigenous person
  • Understanding of Indigenous culture(s), particularly Wendat or Haudenosaunee cultures, and Traditional Ecological Knowledge or local ecology
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Experience in resource interpretation, teaching, or outdoor education
  • Proven commitment to providing superior customer service
  • French or Indigenous second language an asset
  • Knowledge of archaeology an asset
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
