Your Opportunity

Glen Eden's Apprentice Program is your first step into the world of Snow Sports instruction & coaching. Work alongside our certified instructors and coaches and learn what it takes to deliver a safe and fun ski/snowboard lesson experience. Walk away with experience and training that will help you be successful on your certification and skills for future job opportunities.

  • Develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills by supporting instructors and/or coaching staff with the delivery of lessons and supervision of program participants
  • Gain hands-on experience working with students in core and/or competitive programs to help prepare you for CSIA, CASI or Entry Level 1 Coaching certification
  • Gain experience working as a part of a large and fast paced team
  • Assist participants with accessing Chairlift and Magic Carpet surface lifts
  • Learn about health & safety best practices in a coaching environment
  • Assist with set up and tear down of lesson area locations and race events
  • Attend all required training sessions both on and off hill
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operational throughout the season
  • Develop customer service skills by observing and supporting instructors with questions from participants, parents of participants, and other Glen Eden visitors
  • Participate in accordance with the Conservation Halton's Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications

  • Minimum 13 years of age by December 1, 2024
  • Minimum 14 years of age by December 1, 2024 for Milton Heights Race Club support
  • Experience skiing or snowboarding to the point of comfort in assisting others on-hill
  • Availability to support snow school programs from start to finish. This will include:
    • One Weekend Day shift
    • One Weekday Evening shift
    • One of 2 Camp Programs:
    • Camp1: January 2-5 (4 Days)
    • Camp 2: March 10-14 (5 Days)
  • Strong interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Previous employment or volunteer experience in a position working with or providing instruction/supervision to children is an asset
  • Experience teaching skiing or snowboarding with the Glen Eden Snow School, or another reputable snow school is an asset - CASI or CSIA certification is an asset but not required
  • Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
  • Successful candidates must provide own ski or snowboarding equipment
