Status: Full time
Schedule: Monday-Sunday, 9am-6:30pm
Wage: $22.00/hr
Location: Columbia International College (CIC), Hamilton ON
Important Information: Previous admin and/or student engagement experience required. Successful candidate will posses skill and ability with applications such as MS Office, Canva, and Adobe, as well as great communication skills and creativity.

This position combines student engagement responsibilities with office administration duties to ensure a smooth operation and a positive experience for students, staff, and faculty. This role will collaborate with various stakeholders, including students, food service staff, and campus administration, to promote student engagement and provide administrative support to the food service department.
Key position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Student Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to enhance student involvement and engagement within the food service department.
Office Administration: Provide administrative support to the food service department, including managing correspondence, maintaining records, and organizing meetings.
Communication and Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between the food service department, students, faculty, staff, and campus administration.

Job Summary

How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the site.

As a Student Engagement Coordinator/Administrative Assistant, you will:

  • Oversee general operation of the unit office to include upkeep of operating cost records, associate files, compliance, record retention in addition to organization and filing of records and other operational supporting documentation that may be required
  • Answer telephones and direct inquires in a professional manner
  • Maintain confidential personnel files
  • Assist management staff in preparing confidential employment documents, including but not limited to proposed disciplinary notices
  • Open and route incoming mail, answers correspondence and prepares outgoing mail
  • Assist with staffing, including finding staff when employees call out on short notice
  • Attend in-service and/or safety meetings as required

About you:

  • Post-secondary education in Office Administration, and/or one to two years of office administration experience
  • Strong verbal and written skills, with an ability to maintain good relationships with suppliers, staff, clients
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn various software programs quickly
  • Ability to adapt to a changing and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and take direction/feedback
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
