As a Store Attendant, you'll contribute to the smooth operation of our park, ensuring visitors have a memorable experience. Your role helps maintain the beauty and functionality of our natural spaces, benefiting all Ontarians and preserving our environment for future generations.

Arrowhead Provincial Park is in the heart of Muskoka. The park offers three sand beaches on Arrowhead Lake which are serene motorboat-free lakes. There are 15 km of hiking trails including a trail leading to a beautiful waterfall. During the winter you can ski, snowshoe and ice skate on our one-of-a-kind ice trails, which have become a major attraction during the winter months.

About the job

As the Store Attendant, your duties will include:

Inventory and Merchandise Management: Receive, monitor, and maintain inventory; prepare orders for restocking; display merchandise attractively; handle rental equipment and fit visitors with necessary gear.
Sales and Customer Service: Sell merchandise, handle cash transactions, reconcile funds; provide general information about the park; issue and file permits; handle customer needs in a professional manner.
Facility and Grounds Maintenance: Ensure store and visitor center are clean, safe, and sanitary; provide general groundskeeper and maintenance services; handle garbage collection and facility sanitation.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and service inventory of seasonal equipment (skis, skates, snowshoes, watercraft); provide first aid and emergency services if required.
Training and Leadership: Assist in training and leading students and volunteers; work in a fast-paced, busy operation.

NOTE: You will be required to work shift work, weekends and statutory holidays to deliver park operations during the working park season.

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements:

• You must have a valid class G driver's license or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional on the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's license before being hired.

Retail and Administrative skills:

• Knowledge of retail sales procedures and practices, including basic cash handling.
• Knowledge of office procedures and clerical processes, with the ability to operate office machines and equipment.
• Ability to obtain knowledge of park programs, services, and operating regulations/policies/procedures.
• Proficient in using personal computers, common software applications, databases, and performing data entry.

Customer Service and Communication skills:

• Proven customer service skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and park visitors.
• Ability to convey information effectively verbally or in writing.
• Ability to give direction to junior staff.

Organizational skills

• Proven ability to complete tasks within acceptable timeframes and manage multiple concurrent demands.
• Proficient in working with minimal supervision as well as part of a collaborative team.
