Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Communications & Public Engagement, the Communications Student is responsible for providing the planning, coordination, execution and logistics for public engagement events for the City of Kingston.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Promote the City's Public Engagement Framework through smaller in-person, online or hybrid events or promotional opportunities

Act as the main point of contact and liaison for special public engagement events with internal departments and external partners

Facilitate facility and engagement equipment bookings

Create and execute communications plans for special public engagement events

Compile and maintain up to date records and files for all aspects of the engagement events

Develop evaluation criteria for the event and complete the evaluation following the events

Perform clerical and administrative duties as assigned

Attend on site meetings for events as required

Required to work irregular hours (evenings, weekends, holidays)

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Competencies

MUST BE ENROLLED IN AND RETURNING TO FULL-TIME POST SECONDARY STUDIES IN FALL OF 2025 - Verification will be required

Preference given to university or college students currently studying or have an academic background in special event planning or a related program

Experience in a municipal government environment an asset
