Reporting to the Supervisor of Recreation Facilities, the Dockhand is responsible for ensuring adherence to Marina rules and regulations and providing excellent customer service to the boating community.
This position is responsible to:
Welcome public in a friendly, courteous manner and provide directions upon request
Aid in the security of overall facility and dock boats as required
Coordinate available slips with Cashiers
Allocate slips according to boat size and general awareness of boaters needs
Greet and usher arriving boats to allocated slips
Aid boats leaving marina to ensure a safe and courteous cast off
Perform payment transactions
Pump Fuel in accordance with the Fuel Handling Act
Operate wastewater pump out equipment
Responsible for the clean-up and removal of debris and seaweed from the water, docks, and grounds on a daily basis
Produce shift-end reports
Operate point of sale equipment and answer phones
Accountable for daily cash receipts
Maintain accurate records of all boats in marina
Clean the marina office daily and clean the marina and on-shore facilities as required
Assist other marina staff with general maintenance of the marina facilities and sites as required
Comply with the Occupational health and Safety Act (OHSA) as well as the Corporation of the City of Kingston's Health and Safety Program
Other duties as assigned
Must be available to start work as of April 26, 2025
Hours of operation are 7:00am - 10:00pm, Sunday - Saturday, including holidays
MUST BE ENROLLED IN AND RETURNING TO FULL-TIME SECONDARY OR POST SECONDARY STUDIES IN FALL OF 2025 - Verification will be required
Must be 16 years of age as of April 26, 2025
Must have current Standard First Aid/CPR with Automated External Defibrillator certification or be willing to obtain this certification at the candidate's own expense prior to starting in the role
Valid Class "G2" or "G" Driver's Licence is considered an asset
Pleasure Craft Operator Card; Marine Personnel Training; and Restricted Operator Certificate - Maritime is considered an asset
Knowledge of the Liquid Fuels Handling Act is required
VHF radio licence is preferred
Experience with cash handling and knowledge of various computer software and point of sale systems (Word, Excel, etc.) is considered an asset
