Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will provide support to RBC Insurance. You will be part of a very inclusive team that works cohesively together. In this role, you will apply experience and working knowledge to perform a combination of routine tasks and operational assignments.

What will you do?

  • Learn, influence, and innovate end to end aspects of the business ranging from sales and marketing to pricing and negotiations. This role will provide exposure to all areas of business.

  • Creating pricing and reinsurance models for complex and high-impact products from an actuarial perspective including asset strategy discussions with RBC Insurance Investment team and liability cash flow management with RBC Risk Management.

  • Develop the ability to liaise and negotiate with plan sponsors and their consultants with the goal of maintaining RBC's strong partnerships.

  • Assist in validation of key assumptions, gathering and applying market competition, and using business insights to identify trends/opportunities.

  • Provide support to operations team to ensure proper administration of placed deals and collaboration with RBC legal counsel on contract wording, business procedures and policy terms.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access and Outlook

  • Solid technical and analytical skills with strong problem-solving ability

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly motivated self-starter and team player

Nice to have

  • Actuarial exposure/background

  • Previous experience with Moody's/GGY AXIS and Datalink

  • Knowledge of the Pension Risk Transfer market and/or IFRS17 is a definite asset

  • Predictive analytics and Tableau knowledge

  • Knowledge of current longevity trends

  • French speaking would be an asset

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or

  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
