DESCRIPTION OF POSTION

Parks of the St. Lawrence is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to fill this new and challenging role. The successful candidate will lead the coordination, delivery, supervision and training, at our new canteen located at the recently revitalized Brown's Bay Day Use and Campground located on the shores of the St. Lawrence River. Parks of the St. Lawrence is spread across 160 km, and it offers ten campgrounds with three large day-use areas that attract hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. About the job

In this role you will:
  • Under the direct supervision of the Park Ranger and Assistant Parks Operations Manager, lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the canteen.
  • Incumbent will prepare, heat or cook, and serve simple food items, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • To maintain cleanliness of food areas, including washrooms and surrounding areas, including grounds maintenance.
  • To monitor and order inventory when needed and restock the supplies.
  • Embody the SLPC's equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.
  • Provide strong customer service, meeting all Parks and Recreation customer service initiatives.
  • Lead and supervise canteen staff.
  • Ensure the health and safety of visitors and staff.
  • Required to work special events and work at other locations within SLPC as directed by their manager.

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

  • Possess, or have the ability to obtain Smart Serve Certification.
  • Possess, or have the ability to obtain Food Servers Certification.
  • Possess, or have the ability to obtain First Aid, CPR & AED Certificate.
  • A willingness to work variable shifts including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in retail and food services.
  • Requires understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and how it applies to the work environment.
  • Supervisory experience/experience in a leadership role.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to give direction to canteen staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to take orders from customers, and deliver strong
    strong customer service.
  • Strong written skills to be able to write lists and keep track of inventory supplies.
  • Collaborative skills and ability to work in a team environment.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Working knowledge of a POS system.
  • Knowledge of computer software and administrative procedures to manage the daily operations of the canteen.
  • Cash handling skills and mathematical skills to process sales, reservations, review/balance receipts and shift summaries and complete deposits.

JUDGMENT, ORGANIZATIONAL AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS:

  • Problem solving abilities, being self-motivated, and organized.
  • Organizational skills in order to create schedules, monitor workloads, order inventory and supplies, and keep track of any reports/paperwork required.
