About the job

You will:

• Embody the SLPC's equity, diversity and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.
• Support retail operations for parks and recreation retail stores, including eight campgrounds, two beaches, Skywood Eco Adventure, Crysler Park Marina and Upper Canada Golf Course.
• Recognize demand for specific product, identify new product and procure best suppliers, adhering to ministry and St. Lawrence Parks Commission procurement policies.
• Organize cost-effective and efficient delivery of products to each location, ensuring sound inventory management.
• Ensure point-of-sale system is accurate and inputted in a timely manner.
• Work closely with staff to optimize sales opportunities and assist with layout for effective product displays.

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

Valid class 'G' drivers licence.

Knowledge and Experience

• Experience in a retail setting managing inventory, working with suppliers and providing customer service.
• Experience compiling and analysing data, practising good judgment and adhering to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience guiding staff on proper product placement to meet merchandising strategies to optimize sales.
• Knowledge of GST to ensure accurate taxes are collected when applicable.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations that apply to the work being performed

Communication Skills

• Concise oral and written communication skills to communicate with staff and suppliers.

Organizational, Computer, and Other Essential Skills

You have:
• Knowledge of computers and software programs to input/retrieve data, create reports and send emails.
• Organizational skills to coordinate and distribute deliveries to meet site demands and delivery deadlines.
• The ability to learn a variety of point-of-sale programs for inputting and reporting functions.
• Mathematical skills to calculate sales tax, profit margins, etc.
• The ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting and carrying up to 30lbs.
• The ability to attend gift and retail buying shows as required.
