Job Description

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Fleet, the Fleet Driver is responsible for the daily pick up and delivery of auto parts, inventory and other items which requires driving across the GTA. Responsible for all paperwork for pickups and drop offs. May perform other duties as a lube technician such as replacing oil and air filters, checking air pressure in tires, lubricating moving parts with specific lubricants, draining oil from crankcase and refilling appropriately, etc. Assists with keeping Fleet bay and surrounding area clean and safe by sweeping/cleaning the floors, cleaning tools, placing items in the appropriate storage area, etc. and as required, washes, details and cleans Town vehicles.

Job Requirements

1. General 2nd level Apprentice knowledge of vehicle systems in the areas of gas and diesel engines, electrical systems, computer controlled systems, fuel injection, driveline, transmission,
braking systems, wheels/tires, etc.

2. General automotive parts experience is preferred.

3. Must possess a valid Class "G" Driver's License in good standing with a current driver's abstract satisfactory to the Town upon hire, and the ability to drive on the 400 series highways.

4. Previous experience operating or driving a F250 to a F450 pick up truck preferred.

5. Excellent ability to follow all traffic laws and safety regulations while operating the delivery vehicle.

6. Good organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, record-keeping, time management, computer software programs and analytical skills.

7. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with staff, general public, other departments, and suppliers.

8. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.

9. Good communication skills (both written and verbal).

10. Commitment to working in a safe manner and in accordance with Town policies and procedures.

11. Due to the physical nature of this role there is a need to be able to lift, bend, carry and reach to undertake required tasks. Requires dexterity to operate equipment and tools on a daily basis.
