Job Description

2 Year Contract

Under the direction of the Manager, Business Solutions & Project Service, as a key member of the Information Technology Services Project Management Office, the IT Project Manager is responsible for defining and maintaining project management standards for Information Technology (IT) projects across the organization including leadership to cross-departmental IT projects and teams as well as project portfolio management and reporting from initiation to project close. The IT Project Manager will coordinate internal resources and vendors for the execution of IT initiatives, ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget. The IT Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee the quality control throughout its life cycle while adhering to industry standard project management principles.

Job Requirements
  1. Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Significant demonstrated experience in an IT department or technical environment managing organizationally broad projects with significant complexity, value and risk. Experience in a municipal sector environment is an asset.
  3. Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE II, or Project Management training with significant IT experience is preferred. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or other IT framework certifications would be an asset.
  4. Solid technical knowledge, with hands-on experience in software development and web technologies. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  5. Demonstrated technical experience with enterprise applications and across all stages of complex enterprise information management projects from initiation to closing
  6. Significant experience in using project management tools for planning and implementing projects including MS Project, Excel, Word, project related documentation (including BRD, WBS). Must be familiar with procurement related processes such as Purchase Orders, RFP, RFI and RFQ processes.
  7. Ability to coach, train, and provide work direction to other project staff.
  8. Effective consulting, negotiation, relationship-building capability with corporate clients and vendors including a strong customer service orientation. Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating with the ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
  9. Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential. A demonstrated commitment to service excellence and quality.
  10. A strong background in business management, budgeting and analysis.
  11. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  12. Demonstrated excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  13. Valid Class "G" Driver's License in good standing and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
  14. Availability to work outside normal business hours, as required.
