Job Description

24 Month Contract

Under the direction of the Director, Legal & Procurement Services, the Real Estate Law Clerk is responsible for providing a full range of para-legal support primarily in real estate and land development to the Director, Senior Solicitors and all other departments. The Real Estate Law Clerk manages and coordinates the registration of plans of subdivision, conducts and manages real estate and land development transactions; conducts legal research, title searches and analysis, registers by-laws, agreements and title documents; manages assignments and priorities to ensure deadlines are met and files are continuously and consistently moving forward.

Job Requirements
  1. Completion of a College Diploma as Law Clerk or Paralegal or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  2. Demonstrated experience in closing real estate transactions.

  3. Eligible to obtain Teraview License within first three months of employment.

  4. Thorough working knowledge in both registry and land title systems including demonstrated experience with paper and electronic document registration.

  5. Thorough knowledge of property surveys, requisitions, agreements including conveyancing and ability to conduct on and off title searches and familiarity with the Municipal Act, Planning Act, Land Registry Act, Land Titles Act.

  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook) and Teraview software.

  7. Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team, demonstrated ability to take initiative and adhere to deadlines by utilizing excellent organizational and prioritizing skills. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment.

  8. Excellent analytical and detail oriented skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to conduct research.

  9. Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated in the ability to communicate effectively, tactfully and courteously various internal and external stakeholders.
