Position overview:
The Project Engineering intern participates in the mechanical and process design of cutting-edge water and wastewater treatment systems, particularly those utilizing membrane technologies.
As part of the Project Engineering team, you will work with a cross-functional engineering team executing custom project designs, meeting customer expectations, quality, schedule and budget goals, and ensuring project risks are mitigated. You will work on projects from the initial concept phase, through detailed engineering design, equipment manufacture, and installation at customer sites.
Nature of work:
In this role, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to);
Providing technical support for activities involved in the sizing, specification, procurement, fabrication, installation and operation of specified project related equipment and designs including pumps, blowers, valves, tanks and instrumentation
Completion of engineering and hydraulic calculations as required under the guidance of an experienced Project Engineer
Back-checking of drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, Equipment and Facility Arrangements)
Validating that all engineering designs, bills of materials, drawings and technical data are completely and accurately documented and consistent by reviewing associated engineering documentation
Providing technical support to activities involved in the specification, procurement, fabrication, installation and operation of specified project related equipment and designs
Participating in project process and mechanical design review meetings
Assisting with project issue resolution related to design, construction and start-up
Engaging with the extended project team (Project Manager, Design Drafting, Electrical & Instrumentation, and Controls Engineers, Sourcing, QA/QC, Manufacturing, and Commissioning) and equipment suppliers as necessary to facilitate the design and execution of the project

Strong mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team and department projects.
Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks at hand.
Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment.
Good technical writing and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with co-workers.
While on-the-job training will be provided, candidates may benefit from previous knowledge and exposure in the following areas:
Understanding of pumping and hydraulic forces.
Understanding of water chemistry.
Ability to read P&IDs and PFDs (including material balances).
SAP system experience.
Education:
Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related technical discipline.
