We are seeking a motivated and creative high school co-op student to join our digital design team. This hands-on role will provide you with the opportunity to contribute to the organization and efficiency of our lab operations while learning valuable technical skills.

You will work on a variety of tasks, from organizing equipment database to brainstorming creative solutions for lab improvements and operational excellence. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a collaborative environment and develop skills in digital design, organization, and problem-solving.

What you will do

  • Inventory Management
    • Conduct a full inventory of the contents of two lab cabinets.
    • Create and maintain a detailed spreadsheet of all items, ensuring it is posted inside each cabinet door for easy reference.
  • Equipment Organization
    • Build a cable rack and organize cables, adapters, and other lab equipment.
    • Gain familiarity with the tools and equipment used in the lab.
  • Floor Planning
    • Use your creativity to develop an efficient plan for reorganizing lab benches.
    • Ensure the plan minimizes disruption to ongoing activities and improves workflow.
  • Technical Skill Development
    • Learn and apply basic logic circuitry knowledge.
    • Gain hands-on experience with Python scripting and basic soldering techniques.

You will bring

  • A curious and enthusiastic student in grades 11 or 12 with an interest in digital design, technology, or engineering.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a willingness to think outside the box.
  • Basic computer skills (experience with spreadsheets is a plus).
  • No prior technical experience required; training will be provided!

This position is based in Ottawa. Expectation is for student to be in the office 5 days/week (100%) with a 60% minimum in some situation based on manager's requirement.

Other requirements

  • Must commit to participating in the full seven-week program. (This means that you will not be able to take time off for summer school, vacations, or other commitments.)
  • Should have an anticipated average of at least 80%.
  • Must be enrolled in 11th and 12th grade Math and Science courses as of School year Fall 2025.
